HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-05-15 Town Hall MinutesTOWN HALL MEETING MINUTES VILLAGE OF MORTON GROVE AMERICAN LEGION MEMORIAL CIVIC CENTER 6140 DEMPSTER STREET, MORTON GROVE, ILLINOIS MAY 15, 2006 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by Village President Richard Krier. He led the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance and then introduced the elected officials and staff that were in attendance: Elected Officials: President Richard Krier, Trustees Georgianne Brunner, Rita Minx, Dale Senensky, and Daniel Staackmann Absent: Trustees Daniel DiMaria, Roy Kogstad and Clerk Carol Fritzshall Village Staff: Administrator Joseph Wade, Corporation Counsel Teresa Hoffman Liston, Community and Economic Development Director Bill Neuendorf, Deputy Building Commissioner Bill Zimmer, Deputy Police Chief Mark Erickson, Family and Senior Services Director Jackie Walker-O'Keefe, Fire Chief Tom Friel, Public Works Director Andy DeMonte, Interim Finance Director/Treasurer Steven Drazner Guests: Approximately 6 members of the public Mayor Krier explained the Town Hall meeting process and stated there was no special topic for this evening. Members in the audience were invited to make comments on any topics. Comments were then received from the following individuals: Audrey Haley, Marion Street. Ms. Haley has lived in Morton Grove for over 40 years. She voiced comments on teardowns in her neighborhood. Her concern included issues as to load limits on public rights-of--way, property maintenance, and the destruction of the character of the surrounding neighborhoods. Mayor Krier responded builders are responsible for damage to roadways which occurs as the result of construction. All property owners should get tickets if their property is not maintained. Ms. Haley also had a question regarding the status of affordable housing. Mayor Krier responded the Board was committed to promoting affordable housing in the Village and had recently conducted a forum on affordable housing (approximately two weeks ago). The Mayor stated his belief was that in order to create more affordable housing, the Village Board will have to provide financial assistance. There being no further business, Trustee Staackmann moved to adjourn the Town Hall meeting at 7:18 pm. The motion was seconded by Trustee Senensky and approved unanimously pursuant to a voice vote.
